Graduate Writing Workshop

***Applications for 2023-2024 Workshop Due July 15, 2023***

The Disability History Association is seeking applications for our annual Disability History Graduate Writing Workshop (DHGWW). This workshop series is designed to support graduate students working on disability history and foster community in the field. The workshop provides participants with valuable feedback on their writing while also offering them a glimpse into the future directions of disability history.

The DHGWW consists of a series of monthly virtual  meetings from September of 2023 through May of 2024. Participants will discuss one pre-circulated paper per session. Submissions may be conference papers, articles, chapters, or any other work-in-progress by graduate students in any stage of their MA or PhD.

In the past, successful papers have explored time periods ranging from medieval to the late twentieth century, covering geographies including the United States, India, China, and the U.K. Last DHGWW, participants came from universities in five different countries. The DHA encourages scholars of all nationalities, races, and abilities to apply.

To apply for the workshop, please complete the form and upload a one page abstract through the form. Deadline for applications is July 15, 2023.

We will meet one hour per month to discuss the work of one participant. Attendance at each session is essential to building a supportive environment and offering incisive feedback to each member of the workshop. Virtual meetings will have automated live captioning. Applicants are encouraged to indicate any way we can make the workshop more accessible to you on the application form.

Questions can be directed to the DHA Director of Graduate Student Affairs, Jasper Conner.
